ALDI will host an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate the grand opening of its Des Peres location, at 12145 Manchester Rd. ALDI representatives invite the public to come out and tour the store before it officially opens on Wednesday, July 2.

“We are pleased to bring our first store to Des Peres to help customers get high-quality products at everyday low prices,” said ALDI O’Fallon Division Vice President Rob Jeffries.

During the tour, the public will also have an opportunity to sample ALDI exclusive brands like Fit & Active, SimplyNature, and ALDI’s latest LiveGfree line of gluten-free products. ALDI, the nation’s low-price grocery leader, has nearly 1,300 stores in 32 states. They will also receive a free reusable grocery bag. ALDI has more than three dozen stores in the metro St. Louis area, and approximately 70 stores in Missouri (not including Des Peres), Jeffries said.

ALDI stores can be found in urban, suburban and rural areas that represent a broad socio-demographic cross-section of America, he said. Rising demand for ALDI is fueling significant expansion. Over the last several years, ALDI has added on average 80 new stores each year and is expected to continue this pace in 2014.

“We attract smart shoppers who trust ALDI to consistently provide great quality at low prices every day,” Jeffries said. “People who appreciate a simple, efficient approach to grocery savings are likely ALDI customers.”

The ALDI shopper is the smart shopper, Jeffries said, and that’s always been the case. ALDI attracts a wide spectrum of new customers. More than 25 million customers each month save up to 50 percent at ALDI on 1,300 of the most commonly purchased items.

“We believe that great quality shouldn’t come at a high price; rather, great quality should come with everyday low prices,” said Jeffries.
