(St. Louis Public Radio) – A patient in Jefferson County is being evaluated for a possible Ebola infection, Mercy Hospital officials confirmed today.
The patient recently returned from West Africa and is considered ‘low risk,’ spokesperson Bethany Pope wrote in an e-mail. A team of staff who have been trained to respond to Ebola is caring for the patient in a facility separate from the main hospital. The team is following protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Pope said.
Mercy Hospital Jefferson is a 251-bed acute care facility in Crystal City.
