A crowd of more than 50 people picketed outside the home of School Board President Veronica O’Brien on Monday night calling for her removal from the board and the rehiring of basketball coach Floyd Irons.

She has responded that the deal is done and that Irons will not be reinstated.

“I will do everything I can to get my job back,” the deposed Irons told FOX2 at the demonstration.

The crowd, led by the Rev. Phillip Duvall and Demetrious Johnson, shouted chants of “Veronica must go” and “recall, recall,” while O’Brien sat on her front steps protected by nearly a dozen City police officers.

Before the crowd departed, several people yelled profanities at O’Brien.

Another protest was planned for 5 p.m. Wednesday on the steps outside St. Louis City Hall.

Many parents have blasted the board decision, including two who confronted Donna Jones following on Monday at Miller Academy.

Lisa Blackmon screamed at Jones for again disrupting the district.

“You told us there would be no more confusion,” she screamed. “Every time something happens, you change superintendents and just leave us out here. You need to quit running.”

Another parent, Andrea Hudson, said the latest action “just adds to the confusion.”
