Remains found last month in Kinloch have been identified as belonging to missing Berkeley woman Monica Sykes today.

Sykes, 25, had been missing since October.

The remains were discovered during a search conducted by the non-profit organization Texas Equusearch. The group was invited to search for Sykes by the Berkeley Police Department.

She was last seen by her nephews on the morning of October 28, 2016. One of her nephews told the family she was last seen getting into a white vehicle.

Her mother Regina Sykes posted regular videos via Facebook to keep the public updated on the case and plea for more information from anyone who might have information that would lead to the discovery of her daughter.

Monica Sykes’ disappearance was also featured as part of Dateline NBC’s Missing in America series.

Berkeley Police Department said a cause of death has not been released and the case remains open and active.
