Eligible students are encouraged to apply for two scholarships made possible through the St. Louis American Foundation – the 2018 Better World Scholarship and the St. Louis American Foundation Scholarship.

Applicants for the 2018 Better World Scholarship must be African-American college juniors and seniors who are residents of the greater St. Louis metropolitan area who are pursuing a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution and carry a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Applicants for the 2018 St. Louis American Foundation Scholarships must be African-American high school seniors who are residents of the greater St. Louis metropolitan area planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution and carry a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 24.

Recipients will receive a $2,500 scholarship award and be invited to attend the St. Louis American Foundation’s 31st Annual Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship & Awards Gala on Saturday, September 29, 2018, as honored guests. Scholarship recipients will be introduced on stage during the program.

Eligible students should submit the completed application. The deadline to apply for the scholarships is Friday, August 24. Mailed applications must be postmarked by the deadline date. Incomplete or illegible applications may be disqualified.

Established in 1994, The St. Louis American Foundation is the 501(c)3 nonprofit arm of The St. Louis American newspaper. To date, The St. Louis American Foundation, along with its education partners, has fostered more than $5 million in scholarships for high-potential, local minority students, as well as community grants.
