Funeral services will be held today for Craig Collins, the 8-year-old boy who was killed in a hail of gunfire last week while searching for insects.
Police had not made any arrests in connection with the shooting that happened on Wednesday night. Police are seeking help from the community in finding the assailants responsible for the murder.
It is not clear whether Craig Collins Jr. and his 25-year-old cousin were the targets of the shooting or were caught in crossfire. Police said they believe there was more than one gunman.
“I am asking the community to rally around the death of this 8-year-old boy,” St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Joe Mokwa said.
