Popular KMOV-TV anchor Sharon Reed is leaving St. Louis for Atlanta.

“Sharon delivered News 4’s Watching Out for You brand with the utmost integrity, professionalism and passion,” Brian Thouvenot, KMOV News Director said in announcing Reed’s departure. “We’re surely going to miss her at KMOV, but glad to see her staying within the Meredith family at CBS in Atlanta. Viewers in Atlanta are getting one of the most impactful and hard-working journalist in the industry today.”

Reed had some heartfelt remarks of her own.

“News 4 is hands down the best place I’ve ever worked,” said Reed. “Smart, engaging journalists, but most important to me, the good people who work here are my friends.”

Reed issued a statement about her time and experience in St. Louis. It reads as follows:

I’d like to pass along some news. I’m going to be moving on from Channel 4 in just a few days. I’m headed to our sister station in Atlanta. It’s an exciting move for me and my daughter – but it’s also bittersweet. News 4 is hands-down the best place I’ve ever worked. Smart, engaging journalists, but most important to me – warm, good people who work here. They’re my friends. And that includes strong leadership; bosses who temper high expectations with a fair and honest approach.

On a personal note – this is the first job I’ve had as a new mom. Never easy. Channel 4 was the perfect landing spot! Family first. So – while I’m eager to embrace this new opportunity, which allows me to stay with the Meredith Corporation – it’s going to be hard to leave.

I’ll come back, visiting terrific neighbors. And – I’ll also follow the progress of our community. Like you – I’m heavily invested in working through some of the tougher issues that have risen to the surface recently. My hope as I leave, is that the support for each other through whatever comes continues and that you’ll continue to support the good people of Channel 4 and that includes whoever has the privilege of sitting at the anchor desk next.
