The St. Louis Board of Alderman passed a board bill on Feb. 10 that outlines a new proposal for Paul McKee’s Northside redevelopment plan.
The plan includes the construction of a commercial recycling center and the remediation of properties located in North St. Louis – near the Mississippi River Bridge – within the Northside redevelopment area.
After the court struck down the original plan approved by the board of aldermen on July 2, 2010, the developers and city leaders have struggled to come up with a plan that would address the court’s concerns. The case’s presiding judge, Robert Dierker of the St. Louis City Circuit Court, sided with the redevelopment’s opposition that the plan lacked reference to a specific project.
The aldermen adopted the first bill to authorize a redevelopment agreement on October 30, 2009.
Developers said that they and the aldermen will provide the Circuit Court with the project agreement so that the Northside redevelopment project can proceed.
