St. Louis Community Credit Union recently opened a satellite branch within the Grace Hill Water Tower neighborhood, located at 2125 Bissell St. This effort is part of the organization’s strategy to continuously bring mainstream banking services to underserved communities.

“Providing access to financial services is part of what we do to empower the residents of this great community we call home,” said Patrick Adams President/CEO, St. Louis Community Credit Union. “The newest branch within Grace Hill speaks to our unwavering commitment of reaching consumers and their families in hopes to increase their standard of living and better their lifestyle.”

St. Louis Community Credit Union hosted a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Grace Hill Water Tower branch. Nearly 50 people were in attendance including representatives from Grace Hill along with government officials, St. Louis Community Credit Union board of directors and staff.

The satellite branch occupies around 350-square-feet of space. It is equipped with two teller stations and two member service representatives in order to meet the variety of financial services needs of its members. Individuals can enjoy the convenience of opening an account, making deposits, cashing checks, applying for loans, purchasing money orders, and much more. Free financial counseling is also available.

“St. Louis Community Credit Union’s presence in the Grace Hill Water Tower Hub expands the variety of resources that we make available to the families and communities that we serve on the pathway to equity and self-reliance,” said Dr. Roderick Jones, President and CEO of Grace Hill Settlement House.

As a full-service financial institution, St. Louis Community Credit Union primarily serves low-to-moderate income individuals living in and around the region’s urban areas. Oftentimes, this segment does not have convenient access to much-needed financial services. As a way to promote financial empowerment, St. Louis Community Credit Union invests time and resources into developing offices, as well as product and service offerings that cater to underserved populations. It offers second-chance checking products, reloadable debit cards, credit building services and a payday loan alternative in an effort to help break the predatory lending cycle for consumers.

The Grace Hill branch is the tenth location for the organization and the second satellite branch opening in 2011. This past summer, St. Louis Community Credit Union opened a branch in Wellston at the Metropolitan Education and Training (MET) Center.
