The City of St. Louis Department of Health will kick off their participation in National Public Health Week 2012 today. This week-long health promotion event (April 2nd—April 6th) will take place in the lobby of the Abram’s Building at 1520 Market Street from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day.

There will be an interactive display in the lobby promoting public health during National Public Health Week (NPHW).

Since 1995, the first full week of April has been celebrated as National Public Health Week to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving the public’s health. This year’s theme for NPHW is A Healthier America Begins Today: Join the Movement!

Each day will focus on a different public health concern, such as active living and healthy eating, living tobacco and drug-free, preventing communicable disease, promoting sexual health, disaster preparedness, and mental well-being. Informational tables will be set up with interactive activities and free giveaways.

All St. Louisans are invited to come learn how to live healthier lifestyles.
