A man accused of holding a teenage girl captive for more than two years in his Washington Park home has been charged with multiple felonies, including criminal sexual abuse.
St. Clair County Attorney Brendan Kelly announced the charges at a press conference held Saturday evening.
Steven Johnson, 25, has been charged with promoting prostitution, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and two other drug charges related to the case. Kelly said Johnson had sex with the teenager, who was underage at the time.
Johnson, who is also known by his street name “Psycho,” was previously convicted of residential burglary in 2005.
His mother, Owida Johnson, 54, was also charged with two counts of child endangerment related to unsanitary conditions in the home.
