Michael McMillan, President and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, has been selected to serve as honorary chair of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) 2019 Walk for Education. “UNCF and the Urban League have a long history of partnering in empowering communities and changing lives,” said McMillan. “ The St. Louis community needs to have the Walk to support the UNCF mission of helping young people in getting a quality education. For 75 years, UNCF has provided an opportunity for generations of students from St. Louis and across the country to have the tools to take care of themselves and their families – to live the American dream. I believe this is a legacy that deserves celebration and support.”

Since its inception more than 70 years ago, the UNCF has supported over 450,000 students in their pursuit of higher education nationwide – including thousands from the St. Louis region.

The 2019 Walk for Education will take place at 9 a.m. at the Sons of Rest Pavilion in Tower Grove Park on Saturday, March 23. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. Post walk festivities will include a food truck row and a dance party.

Sponsors for the Walk for Education include Barnes Jewish Hospital/BJC Healthcare, Regions Bank, Sterling Bank, Pepsi, University of Missouri – St. Louis and the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis.
