A candlelight vigil was held Sunday for a North St. Louis woman killed in her home.

Family and friends gathered to remember Janice Lester, 27.

Last week she was found shot to death inside her home on Geraldine while her mother and seven-year-old daughter slept.

The vigil was organized by a nearby motorcycle club who collected more than $700 for the family.

Police haven’t made any arrests in the case.

Friday afternoon St. Louis detectives got search warrants to search suspect’s house in Berkeley for the murder weapon.

The suspect has been in police custody since late Thursday evening after the murder of Janice Lester.

She recently moved into a house in North St. Louis and was excited about starting a new life.

But a tragedy has now devastated the family.

Police say Lester’s 7 year-old daughter discovered her mother dead in a bedroom inside their home in the 5000 Block of Geraldine.

Wednesday night her daughter’s ex-boyfriend took Janice out on a date. Later that evening the pair returned to Lester’s home.

Hours later, Lester’s daughter found her mother’s body. The child and her grandmother were asleep across the hall at the time of the murder.
