A woman died Tuesday morning after she was run over by a U-Haul rental truck she was driving, police said.
Police said they believe a 53-year-old woman traveling on westbound Interstate 44 near Jamieson Avenue either lost control of the rental truck and collided with the center median, causing her to be ejected from the vehicle or intentionally jumped from the vehicle as it was moving.
A Shrewsbury police officer was assisting a stalled motorist when another motorist told the officer the woman had been hit.
The truck came to rest against the center median approximately 120 feet west of the victim.
The accident closed three lanes of traffic for about an hour. They reopened to traffic around 11 a.m.
