Jennings City Councilwoman, Yolonda Fountain Henderson, filed for Mayor of the City of Jennings on Tuesday, December 12th. Henderson, who represents the first ward on the Jennings City Council, is also in her second term as a member of the Jennings School Board.
Heavily involved in public service, Ms. Henderson is Democratic Committeewoman of the Norwood Township of St. Louis County and serves as Chairperson of the 70th Democratic Legislative District Committee. She is also Vice-President of the Unity Political Action Committee of St. Louis County which has as it goals influencing public policy and the electoral process.
Yolonda is active with Neighborhood Watch and views the fighting of crime as a top priority. She is also keenly aware of the complaints of citizens about unfair and discriminatory treatment by rogue members of the Jennings Police Department. As Mayor, she intends to provide greater oversight to the Police Department to assure that Jennings Police Officers treat citizens fairly and with respect as they go about assuring that the City of Jennings is free of crime. Ms. Henderson, the mother of one daughter, Whitley, is a graduate of Jennings High School and the Hickey School of Accounting, a member of Rising Star M.B. Church and is employed with Employment Connection.
