Audrey Greer Fields passed on February 13, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Audrey Fields attended Chattanooga’s public schools before attending Knoxville College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts. After graduation, she worked in the insurance industry, and she developed a passion for working to help African-American students.
Audrey and her husband, Albert, were very active and supportive of the Ladue African-American Pupil Support (L.A.A.P.S.) group founded in 1990. This group organized seminars, educational retreats and mentoring sessions. Audrey directed the annual bus tours for students to visit HBCU’s for over a decade. She encouraged and inspired many children that have become successful in business, education and community service. She was mother to hundreds of students during her work activity in the community.
The impact Audrey left on these children was life changing for all.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Fields; sons, Carey Fields (Melissa) and Carlos Fields (Dawn); sisters, Jeanetta (Morris) and Carolyn, Lisa (Dave); twin brothers, Morris and Maurice; father-in-law, Charles Fields, many other loving family members and special friends Denise and Keith Williams.
She was buried in her hometown, Chattanooga, TN, on Saturday, February 19, 2011.
