Mrs. Williams was born in Memphis, TN. She attended the Claiborne County Training School in Port Gibson, MS and graduated from Brumfield High School in Natchez, MS. She was a graduate of the State Hospital School of Nursing in Vicksburg, MS and Minneapolis General Hospital of Anesthesia. Mrs. Williams began her career in 1942 at State Hospital in Vicksburg, MS. She was Second Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corps. She worked as a registered nurse at People’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO and was employed at St. Louis City Hospital, Department of Anesthesia, for 28 years before retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, St. Louis Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Post 404 Service Women’s Group and many other clubs and organizations.
