Elois (Ma-Ma) Woodard, daughter of Gus Wynn and Loleatha Crookshank was born at sunrise on March 31, 1933 at City Hospital in St. Louis and departed at sunset on September 18, 2008 at DePaul Medical Center in Bridgeton. Elois was the younger of two children. She lived 75 wonderful years.
She graduated from Sumner High School and furthered her education by attending Lincoln University. She returned to St. Louis upon graduating and married Ned Edward Woodard, who preceded her in death.
Elois, referred to as “Ma-Ma,” was a cheerful, wonderful and caring person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a sister, Katherine Henderson, who lives in California; two daughters, Dorrie K. Wise, Karen L. Woodard; two sons Kevin Wise, Hunter D. Woodard; seven grandchildren, Dannell Wise, Curry Mitchell Jr., Ashanti Mitchell, Laquita Woodard, Danny Winston Jr., Demille Baker, D’mia Woodard; 12 great-grandchildren, Stephan Kennedy, Dannell Q. Wise, Curry Lee Mitchell III, Deonte Hubbard, Jasmine Jones, Akaylah Mitchell, Danyell Wise, Karon Mitchell, McKayla Brown, Arion Echols, La’Mere Woodard, Danny Winston III, one niece, Cresta Richard Solomon, two nephews, Ivan Henderson, Lamont Henderson and a host of cousins, friends and loved ones.
