Ernestine McKellar (nee, Jones) was born, May 13, 1920. She was the beloved wife of Allen McKellar for 65 years. Ernestine was the daughter of Dr. Clay and Bettye Jones, sister of Vernon and Clay Jones, aunt of a multitude of nieces and nephews. Ernestine was a 1943 graduate of Fisk University, Nashville, TN. She was the Chairman of the English Department at Southwest High School in St. Louis for many years and a master teacher. She leaves in mourning, her family and friends and countless grateful students.
Visitation: May 18, 2012 at 10am, 2nd Presbyterian Church, 4501 Westminster Place St. Louis, MO.
Service will follow at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Ernestine McKellar Scholarship Foundation are welcome.
