Beverly Ann Byas
Beverly Ann Byas ( Spencer) , 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones .
 
December 1, 2015 in St Louis.  She was born April 6, 1937 in Crystal City Missouri.  
 
She received her early education at Star School in Crystal City  and Douglas High School in Festus, Missouri.    She completed her education by attending Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri and then graduating from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. 
 
After college, Beverly worked for Southwestern Bell. She then 
furthered her education at UM-St. Louis by then studying and earning a teaching certificate in Business Education .
 
Beverly taught business education at Ritenour High School for 28 years and also Adult Education for 5 years. During this time she was actively involved in the National Education Association on a local and national level holding various positions and posts.
 
After retiring , Beverly was employed by Talbots  as a fashion stylist at the Frontenac location.
 
She  was a member of New Sunny Mt. Baptist Church in St Louis.  
She was the first woman to serve as Chairperson of the Trustee Board.
 
Beverly survived breast cancer three times over 25 years. During  this time she remained positive, and provided unending support, 
encouragement and love to others.
 
Beverly is survived by her son Jeffrey Byas, of Chicago, Illinois, and her sister Judith (Spencer) Williams of Kansas City, Missouri .
 
She was preceeded in death by her father, Ralph Spencer; mother, Francis Thomas Spencer, and step mother, Cerise Spencer and her 
former husband, Marvin Byas.
 
Services in December were private.A memorial and Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, April 1, 2016 at New Sunny Mt. Baptist Church, 4700 W Florissant Ave in St.Louis from 1-3 PM.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Felines and Canines of Chicago, Illinois, which are deeply appreciated.
