Farrell Chatwell, Sr. was the second of nine children born to Jennie Ewing Chatwell and Wilbur Chatwell. Born on July 13, 1916, in Saint Louis, Missouri, he was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers and four sisters. Farrell lived to be 101 years old. Chatwell was a product of the Saint Louis Public Schools and graduated from Sumner High School and Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Farrell was a true patriot throughout the years. He witnessed many extraordinary moments in history and has seen immense progress achieved over the course of a century World War II took Farrell W. Chatwell, Sr. to France to the Battle Fields with the United States Army. Farrell was a freelance photographer for Ebony and Jet Magazines. He also worked as a real estate agent for over 40 years. He later retired as an exceptional postal manager; after a 48 year career. Farrell and Yvonne were married on December 24, 1988. Yvonne treasured the time she spent traveling with her devoted husband. They enjoyed visiting numerous places including California, Nevada, Texas, Virginia, Hawaii, and Jamaica. Both took pleasure in traveling with the St. Louis Chapter of The Moles and Mules. Farrell W. Chatwell, Sr. loved life and he lived it to the fullest. He loved his family and he always put them first. He loved his friends and they loved him. Farrell was a charter member of the YMCA Olde Tymers. He was a devoted member of the St. James AME Church for over 70 years. He served as a trustee there for more than 25 years. Chatwell served his family, church, community, and country with excellence. He has been honored with Letters of Accommodation from President Barack Obama, Senator Claire McCaskill,and Congressman Lacy Clay. Farrell W. Chatwell, Sr. departed this world on October 19, 2017. He will be truly missed but leaves a legacy of love and faith. He leaves to mourn his sister, Helen Crosby of Los Angeles, California, Yvonne Chatwell, spouse and stepdaughter, Ingrid Taylor, MD. From his his marriage to Lois Holly in 1946, he leaves to grieve his three children;, LaJoyce Chatwell Lawton, Ed.D, ( Billy) , Darcell Chatwell Luke ,(Alfred), Farrell Chatwell, Jr.,( Dawana) , his granddaughter, Joycelyn Luke and a host of family and friends.
