Harold Antoine, Sr, 94 was born July 5, 1924 in Moreauville, LA and passed away January 11, 2019 at 10:09 am, 19 years, to the day of his son’s passing. He married Elsie Bordelon of Orange, TX on August 4th, 1944. He was a graduate of Southern University with a degree in engineering and also received a Masters degree from Bradley University. He moved his family to St. Louis in 1954 to teach at Scott AFB. He became one of the first African American engineers hired at Emerson Electric. Harold was known for his leadership as the General Manager of the Human Development Corporation (HDC) and as a civic leader in the St. Louis area. He served on several corporate boards, was an avid golfer, a member of the St. Louis Royal Vagabonds and a member in good standing with his Sigma fraternity. He was preceded in death by his youngest son and name sake, Harold Antoine Jr., his father, Aaron, his mother, Clementine, his sister, Emily and brother Phillip. The elder Antoine is survived by his wife, Elsie Antoine, his eldest son and former Mayor of Olivette, Jean (Suzann) Antoine, grandchildren, Mark (Tamara) Antoine, Michael (Elena) Antoine, Tracy (Marvin) Antoine Hay, Terrell Taylor, Tammy (Nate) Johnson, Jean (Amanda) Antoine II, Aaron (Nichole) Antoine, great grandchildren, great–great grandchildren, nephews and nieces living around the country.
Visitation will take place at Wade Funeral Home,
4800–4828 Natural Bridge, St. Louis, MO on Thursday,
January 24, 2019 from 4–8 pm. Services will be held at
Central Baptist Church, 2842 Washington Blvd., St. Louis, MO on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 am with interment at
St. Peter’s Cemetery, 2101 Lucas & Hunt Road immediately
following the Service. The Repass to be held at
Central Baptist Church following burial.
