Jeanne Freeman Gore of St. Louis received eternal peace in the home she filled with love on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2019. Jeanne, the youngest and last surviving of six children, was born in St. Louis Missouri on February 6, 1926 to Edward and Almeta Freeman. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1944 and attended Stowe Teachers College. She was inducted into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1946. In 1947 she married Herman Gore, Jr. who would later become the long-serving Pastor of Christ’s Southern Mission Baptist Church. This union of 53 years was blessed with five children: Jeanne, Herman III, Robin, Chrystal, and Yolanda. Jeanne was honored by the State in 2009 and St. Louis City in 2012 for her 4 decades of volunteer service at the Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center. Her husband and elder son preceded her in death.
Funeral services are Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ’s Southern Mission Baptist Church located at 5630 Page Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63112 (Visitation at 9:00). Interment Services are at Valhalla Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations payable to Mother Gore’s Educational Fund and mailed to Christ’s Southern Mission Baptist Church.
