Jewell Chambers

Jewell Chambers was born on October 28, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to Frank and Monzella Chambers. Jewell was educated in the St. Louis Public School system. He graduated from Riddick Elementary School in 1960 and Sumner High School in 1964. He went on to attend Harris Teacher’s College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 
May of 1968. He retired from the Saint Louis Public Schools in 1998 after serving faithfully for 30 years. Jewell united in marriage with Annie Jean Jones in 1973. Jewell and Annie Chambers enjoyed 43 years of matrimony and to this union two children were born Monita Jewel Chambers Moore (Brandon) and Christopher Levi Chambers (Meredith). Jewell remained an active, financial-dues paying-life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. until death. Jewell Chambers departed this life on August 17, 2016.
 
The Homegoing Celebration for Jewel Chambers was held at Wade Funeral Home’s Twins Chapel on Tuesday, August 23 and 24th, 2016. Members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity along with other friends and family honored him. Mr. Chambers was interned at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The repast was hosted by the members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and his family at the Omega Center in city’s West End. 
Jewell Chambers was a well-respected role model and active citizen in the St. Louis community. He will be missed.
