There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die: Ecclesiastes 1-2 The season changed for Marguerite Winters Clancey on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
Born in Henderson, Kentucky to Elijah and Martha Dixon Winters on January 13, 1924, she lived for 92 years residing in Henderson, Rock Hill, St. Louis, and finally in Creve Coeur, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Elsie, Alicetine, Virginia, Joseph, and Elijah Jr.
She married James W. Clancey, who preceded her in death, in 1941, and this union was blessed with 4 children, Elaine, Dorothy Jean, James Jr., and Michael Nathaniel.
During her life Marguerite was a devoted wife, Christian, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, citizen, neighbor, and Friend. She was a great friend to many. Her sweet, loving, and kind spirit will truly be missed.
Marguerite grew up in Henderson and moved to St. Louis in 1960 with her husband and children, residing in the area before moving back to Henderson after James passed, where she reunited with her siblings living the epitome of retired life. She cared for them until they passed and moved back to St. Louis in 2006. She enjoyed being with her friends in Henderson and loved working in her church, the First Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Upon returning to St. Louis she joined the Antioch Baptist Church where she loved the services and could be seen waving her fingers to the wonderful music.
She is survived by her daughters Elaine Clancey Moore, Dorothy J. Neals (Marvin), sons James W. Clancey Jr. (Karin), Michael Nathaniel Clancey (Diane), brother Everett Winters (Norma), 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, devoted nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at the Wade Twin Chapel
