Orville Kirk Sr.

Orville Kirk Sr. was born on March 5, 1936 in Saint Louis, MO. to Mr. Hazel Kirk and Mrs. Arlelia Kirk. He was preceded in death by both parents and siblings ~ Deossie Lewis, Harden Lewis and Aubrey Lewis. He is succeed by his loving sister Hazel (Kirk) Howard.
 
Orville is a product of St. Louis Public Schools, attending Carver Elementary and graduated from Vashon High School. He received his B.A. Degree from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas and a Masters of Education Degree from St. Louis University. He enlisted in the Army Services in 1958, served in the Korean War and continued to serve his country until 1960.  He accepted Christ at an early age and is a lifelong member of First Baptist church of St. Louis, MO. 
 
Orville and Joyce Scott married in 1959 and from this union three sons were born. He began his career with the St. Louis Department of Education.  He loved to inspire and help children so he began his teaching career in 1984 and impacted many young lives.  His serving extended beyond the classroom to past-president of the St. Louis chapter #103 of the International Council for Exceptional Children, Board of Directors of the Annie Malone Children & Family Service Center and Monsanto Family YMCA. He is a Prince Hall Shriner and Mason.

 

 
Orville is survived by: his loving wife ~ Joyce Kirk; three sons ~ Orville Kirk Jr., Gerald Kirk (Kathy), Ronald Kirk; dedicated sister ~ Hazel (Kirk) Howard; precious grandchildren ~ Jarrick Kirk, Maya Kirk, and Cameron Kirk; adored nieces ~ Daphne Glass (Vernell) & Fabienne Kirk ; close nieces & nephews in Chicago; close cousins ~ Gloria Crossan (San Francisco, CA), Kirkpatrick family (Terre Haute, IN); loving godchildren ~ Vivian King, Duane Bowen; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Orville will be missed by students, colleagues, friends and family. You are home Orville.
