Rev. Dr. James Brown Sr.
Rev. Dr. James Brown Sr., former Pastor of the Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church, 4424 Washington Blvd. (in the Central  West-End) St. Louis, MO  transitioned on Saturday January 20, 2018 at  BJC Hospital.
 
Rev. Brown served as Pastor of Mercy Seat for 30 years. After Celebrating his retirement in December 2017,  he served as Interim Pastor for 2 years, later becoming Pastor Emeritus.  Prior to accepting the Pastorate at Mercy Seat he served as Pastor of  the North End Baptist Church in East St Louis, IL  for 15 years and St. Luke M.B. Church in St. Louis for 2 Years.
 
On the Missouri side –
He served as Board Member for Berean Districr Association of Missouri, Assistant Treasuer for Missouri Baptist State Convention, committee member for the National Convention USA, Inc.  He also served as a member of St. Louis Ministerial Alliance, Instructor for Berean District Leadership School, Missouri Baptist State Congress of Missouri and Instructor for Ushers Nurses of National Baptist Convention.  Rev Brown also served as. Director of Ministers Division for the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri and instructor for local church leadership schools and institutes
 
On the Illinois side-
Rev. Brown was involved in community and city programs, district ,state and national religious work.  He served as President of Ministers United Against Human Suffering, ,Vice-President of East St. Louis Ministerial Alliance, Faculty Member of New Salem District Congress, Faculty member of Illinois Baptist Institute, Advisory Board Member for Illinois Baptist Institute, Counselor for New Salem District Ushers & Health Units.
 
Rev. Brown was the recipient of many awards, certificates, letters, plaques, and proclamations for his outstanding  dedicated service to the church and the community.
