Ruby Bernice Stevens

Ruby Bernice Stevens, 89, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2016.  She was one of seven children born to Cornelius and Mozella Haynes, on August 13, 1926 in Helm, MS.  All preceded her in death.  As young girlsRuby and her sister Juanita moved to St. Louis, MO after the death of both parents to live with their aunt and uncle, William S. & Lubirtha Bolden, known as Bolden & Aunt Lou.  The other siblings moved to Chicago, IL.
 
Ruby graduated from Vashon High School where she met the love of her life, Willie Stevens.  They were joined in Holy  Matrimony on April 27, 1945. To this union were born twelve children. Ruby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Willie preceded her in death on September 21, 2011.
 
Ruby loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during her young years.  She joined  Wayman AME Church, and served on the Betsy Pointer Scholarship Council and Associate Member of the Matron’s Club. Ruby was a dedicated member for over sixty years.
 
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, twelve children: Dr. Gloria J Johnson (Louis), Dr. Freddie J Stevens (Cynthia),  Lawrence O Stevens (Pamela), Willie Stevens, Jr. (Grace), Donald N. Stevens, Shirley D Stevens, Kenneth C Stevens, Pamela J Salami (Harrison), Rhonda B Monroe, Deborah E Aaron, Karen Renee Farria (Leonard) and Derrick L Stevens; host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Minnie Cain and Juanita Haynes; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
