Susie H. Mann, 88, passed December 4, 2017 at McKnight Place Extended Care in St Louis. Susie, daughter of the late Thomas Sr. and Deseree Haire, moved to East St. Louis, IL at an early age. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Tuskegee Institute and a secondary Master’s from St. Louis University. Susie was ranked nationally in the top 200 players by the American Bridge Association (ABA), and the highest ranked ABA player in St. Louis. She attained Gold Diamond status. She formed the University City Bridge Club, was a founding member of the Metro-East Bridgettes and a life member of the ABA and
Greater St. Louis Bridge Council. She joined the sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated at Tuskegee in 1950. Susie, a life member, served as Delta Delta Omega (DDO) Chapter President from 1961-1963. Susie held the honor of being named DDO Soror of the Year in 1970 and 1999. In 2000 she was recognized as a Golden Soror for reaching fifty years of service. Susie was an active member of Samaritan United Methodist Church. At Tuskegee, she met her future husband, fellow bridge player Dr. George L. Mann who preceded her in death. Doris Elise and Lucia Carol were born to that union and cherish her memory.
 
 
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec.14 from 3pm -7 pm at Samaritan 
United Methodist Church, 4234 Washington BLVD in St Louis, MO. A second visitation will commence on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 from 9am -10am. The family hour and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s Ivy Beyond the Wall Services will immediately follow with the Celebration of Life beginning at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 2101 Lucas Hunt Rd, St. Louis, MO 63121
