Joy Yvette Wright, born Joy Carter June 18, 1948 in St. Louis, Mo. To Reuben “Ed” Carter (deceased) and Deana Holden.
Joy was oldest of four siblings. She graduated from Beaumont High School in June 1964.
In October, Joy met and married Johnny Wright and two daughters Tifonee Jackson and Raquel Wright (Tif and Rok) were born to this union.
Joy was baptized into Christ June 1973 at the Page Boulevard Baptist Church of Christ.
Joy relocated to Los Angeles, Calif. in 1976. She placed her membership at the Figueroa Church of Christ in 1976. On July 11, 1977, Joy gave birth to Alva Tyrone Barton, and later gave birth to Adonis Drew Nobles on February 24, 1982.
Joy had a great sense of humor and always had her family and friends laughing. She was eager to learn and collected a variety of books for reading. She had a passion for art, and took classes to learn to paint. She enjoyed baking cakes, and felt that Duncan Hines was start to making cakes from scratch. She loved reading her Bible, and having Bible study from kids in the neighborhood to strangers in the grocery store. She loved sharing the Bible, and was concerned about those weren’t Christians.
Joy’s love for her family and friends was shown in many ways, and she always had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them, teaching the Bible, coloring, drawing and painting.
Joy moved to Highland Park, California in 1989 and in 2003 moved to Palmdale, California where she resided until her death.
Joy leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Deana Holden; Brothers, Dana Carter (Kansas) and Raynard Collins (Los Angeles); daughter Tifonee Jackson (Jamal); sons, Alva Barton (Jimesha), and Adonis Nobles; grandchildren, Derrick James Jr., Raven Huston-Jackson, Ahjee Barton, Lauren Jackson, Morgen Jackson, Russell; Two special cousins Dianna Lavonne “Baby Girl” Beene (St. Louis) and Johnny “Lil Johnny” Higgins, and her pets Persia, Chrissy and Precious.
