Lowell Christian

A cherished soul, Lowell Christian peacefully and gracefully danced into eternal rest, Tuesday, September 27, at 12:30 A.M. at Barnes Hospital.  Lowell, whose name means dearly loved, was born on May 9, 1935, in Memphis, TN.  He was the fifth child born to Theotres and Mabel Christian, ¬both preceded him in death along with three brothers? Charles Major, Leverne Lionel, Theotres Jr., and one sister, Beverly Jean Christian Mimes.

In 1936, Lowell and his family moved to St. Louis, MO. where he
attended public schools. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman. He supported his mother and siblings with profits from the sale of ice, newspapers, red hot pork skins, ice cream and five gallon cans of oil, drawn from the “fifty-gallon” tank located in the basement; and later with his earnings from the Air Force. Through God, Giving was Lowell’s way of expressing love. Lowell was a retiree of General Motors in St. Louis. Lowell enjoyed a wonderful fourteen-year marriage with his wife, Ruby C. Harriman Christian, and was co-owner of the highly
successful Daruby Enterprises, Inc. They cherished times spent alone and with their blended families. Lowell and Ruby loved to travel to
destinations near and far including Africa. They enjoyed memberships in various social and civic organizations. Lowell was a faithful member of the Usher Board at Antioch Baptist Church and an active member of the
Royal Vagabonds, Inc.
