Mrs. Lucinda M. Humphries-Jackson was born October 31, 1942 in St. Louis to the union of Willie and Lorine Humphries.
She was educated in the St. Louis Public/Private Schools, graduating from Hadley Tech in June 1961. She received her Associates in Arts Degree from Forest Park Community College, earned both her BA in Education/Special Education and a Masters of Education/Counseling degree from UMSL.
She was united in Holy Matrimony on July 19, 1969 to Mr. Willie Jackson, who preceded her in death.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized. In 1976, Lucinda (Cindy) Jackson joined the New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hosea’ E. Gales, where she worked faithfully for 16 years. She then transferred her membership to the Mount Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in 1992, under the leadership of Pastor E.G. Shields, Sr., where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. She was kind hearted and loved her family, church and friends. Her motto was, “Only what you do for Christ will last.”
She was employed with the St. Louis County Special School District for 32 years. She taught at Normandy Senior High and Normandy Middle School. She also taught briefly for the Wellston and Riverview Gardens School Districts. She accepted her assignment from God as an outstanding teacher and used her gifts to meet the needs of many students. She was a true servant of God. She retired in June 2008.
Mrs. Jackson was a charter member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority—University City Chapter of the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. She served in many capacities within the organization.
She departed this life on July 31, 2010 at Christian Northeast Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father and mother as well as her husband.
She leaves to cherish her memory; two devoted and faithful brothers, Robert Lee Humphries and Willie Humphries; mother-in-law, Mrs. Lena Jackson; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alma Jean Humphries and Mrs. Patricia Moore (Bennie); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends as well as a loving god-daughter, Mrs. Genise Monticello.
