Mary Rogers was born to Sane and Virginia (Shelton) Rogers, on December 19, 1913 in Eads, Tennessee. Mary had eight sisters and one brother, who have all preceded her in death.

Esau Morrow married Mary Rogers in 1934 in Eads, Tennessee and to that union Mary Ruth, Esau Jr., Corine and Vanilla were born in Tennessee. In 1945, Mary and her children joined her husband, and moved to St. Louis, Missouri.

After moving to St. Louis, James “Poppa”, Judy Mae, Joseph and Elroy were born.

January 27, 1968, Mary Morrow called for the “Bath Tub Baptism.” At the time, she was living at 2409 Division on the 11th floor; Apartment 1112, in the Pruitt Igoe. (Can anything good come out of Nazareth?) Mary called for Minister Simon Morrow to make sure her family was saved. There was so much water, she was putting sheets, towels and clothes down to absorb the water spilling over from the tub.

But the water was still running into the apartment downstairs, so much so, that the people from Apartment 1012 came up to see what was going on and were baptized in Jesus name as well. That night, in the midst of the Pruitt Igoe, 11 people were baptized. In the year 1968, that Virginia died, they saw the Lord.

Mother Morrow’s husband, Esau Morrow, Sr. and four children, Mary Ruth; Esau Jr.; Joseph; Elroy, all preceded her in death. Mother Morrow went into eternal rest, in the presence of God, Friday, April 26, 2010.

Mother Mary Morrow leaves to cherish her memories; three daughters, Corine “Hannah” Patrick (Alonzo); Vanilla “Nella” Burks; Judy Mae Foote (Willie); and one lone surviving son who was very special to her, James “Poppa” Morrow, who unfortunately could not be here. She leaves 32 grandchildren; 12 loving nieces and 12 affectionate nephews, and a host of great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and Church family & friends in Christ.
