Funeral services for Minnie Beatrice Adams were held on Nov. 6 at the Third United Presbyterian Church in St. Louis.
Minnie Beatrice Straughter Adams, the second child born to the late Willie and Ada Bell Straughter, was born in Jackson, Miss. Her parents had 10 children, all of whom preceded her in death. She received her formal education in Jackson, Mississippi.
When she was a teenager, her family moved to St. Louis. As a young woman she was united in holy matrimony with Triam A. Adams. Triam preceded her in death in 1971. Although there were no children born to their union, Minnie was a loving aunt to all her siblings’ children. Each of her nieces and nephews, as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews, spent some time under the loving, “motherly” care of Aunt Minnie.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. For many years she was an active member of Lane Tabernacle C.M.E. Church. She served for many years as a Nurse’s Aide and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. When she and her husband became homeowners on Theodosia, they joined Third United Presbyterian Church. Her membership extended from the early 1950’s to her death. She was a faithful member and served with the Women’s Association.
Minnie was a person who loved her church family and all of her relatives. She lived a long life and praised God daily.
She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her demise, a niece, Ada Corke; a nephew, Charles Brantley, Jr. (Betty); and many grand and great-grand-nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
