Nadine Rodgers was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to the late Hayes Hardy and Mary Ellen Archable. She was the youngest of two children.

She received her early education in the Cotton Plant Public School District. Later, she moved to St. Louis and graduated from Charles Sumner High School in 1961. After graduation, Nadine obtained her Secretarial Certification through O’ Fallon Technical School while she worked at Stix, Baer & Fuller and American National Insurance Company.

On September 21, 1969, Nadine was united in holy matrimony to William Rodgers Jr. To their union, two daughters were born, Lisa and Rebecca.

She worked as an auditor at Dillard’s in Northwest Plaza while her children were educated in the Pattonville School District and through her retirement.

Nadine confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. Upon her arrival in St. Louis, she joined Lane Tabernacle C.M.E. Church, where she was a member of the Celestial Choir and later the Tabernacle Choir. She was a charter member of the Emma Burton Ryce Lyceum Guild and remained faithful for 40 years. Nadine was a devoted supporter of the Feed the Hungry Program, and a member of the 1st Friday Prayer Group. She also served in various capacities of the Sunday School Department and served as president of the Stewardess Board.

As they approached 40 years of marriage, Nadine and William’s love for one another inspired other couples. As a couple, they enjoyed working together, and were committed to developing relationships within their neighborhood and the 27th Ward.

Nadine was unexpectedly called home to rest on Monday, January 21, 2008. Her parents, father-in-law Willie Rodgers Sr. and sister-in-law Shirley Ann Rodgers preceded her in death. Nadine leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, William; two loving daughters, Lisa and Rebecca; sister, Hays Ann (Earl) Tankins; mother-in-law, Lovie T.; brothers-in-law, Sam (Carol) Rodgers and Mark Rodgers; sister-in-law, Louisetta (Tim) Clark; aunts, nieces, nephews, a great-nephew, three God sons; and a host of cousins, church members, and special friends and neighbors.
