On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, Mr. Vernon C. Mitchell, Sr., departed this existence to be with the Lord. Mr. Mitchell was a long time educator in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. He proudly served for over 32 years, mostly as the principal of Berkeley Senior High School, which later became McCluer South Berkeley High School, under his leadership. Born on January 2, 1952 in St. Louis and raised in Kinloch, Missouri, Mr. Mitchell was the fourth of ten children born to late Pastor John & Rosie Mae Mitchell, Sr. His love for his family was only trumped by his abiding faith in God. Aside from his passion for education, Mr. Mitchell could always be seen riding his horses or his Honda Goldwing motorcycle. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, son, daughter, granddaughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, his siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and many, many friends.
