The Rev. Agnes L. Bonner Wallace, senior associate minister of the Lane Tabernacle CME Church, died on Wednesday, November 15 at St. John Mercy’s Medical Center of injuries stemming from an automobile injury.

Wallace was also one of the first African-American policewomen in the Metropolitan St. Louis Police Department and a member of the St. Louis Clergy Coalition.

Pastor James T. Morris of Lane Tabernacle said, “Rev. Wallace was a trendsetter. During a time when African Americans were fighting for equal rights and professional positions, Rev. Wallace was making history in law enforcement and ministry.”

Wallace was a retired Elder, in full connection, in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and had pastored and founded CME churches in St. Louis, Webster Groves and Golden Gardens and Springfield, Illinois.
