November 12, 1932 – December 22, 2006

Samuel J. Sealey Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother and faithful friend, passed on December 22, 2006.

Born November 12, 1932, Sam was the youngest of five children from the marriage of Dr. Samuel J. Sealey Sr. and Mrs. Ethel B. McPherson. His mother’s hard work proved an asset to his father attaining a medical degree for Meharry Medical College.

Samuel’s early childhood was spent in Bryan, Texas. Having lost his mother at age two, he was reared by his father and stepmother. He received his high school diploma from Kemp High School in Bryan and later attended Washington University.

His served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and did a tour of duty in Germany from 1953-1955.

In 1956 he wed Mrs. Arabelle Dantzler, who became his life partner and the mother of his three sons, Samuel Joseph III, Reginald Dennis and Stephen John.

An administer of minority contracts at McDonnell Douglas, he retired with commendations after 25 years of service. Professionally, he was the recipient of an award from the Small Business Administration, the National Minority Business Development Association and The St. Louis Metropolitan Minority Supplier Development Council.

At McDonnell Douglas, he mentored many young African-American men. He coached Christian Youth Conference basketball teams and was an active member at Ascension-St. Paul Catholic Church.

Preceding Sam in death was his mother and father; one sister, Sylvia Sealey Sadberry; George Sealey; and his stepmother Mrs. Cleopatra Morrison Sealey. Surviving him are his loving wife of 50 years, Belle; three sons,

Samuel J. III (Deidre) Sealey, Reginald Sealey, Stephen (Gina) Sealey; grandchildren Samuel IV, Erin (Sean) Wood, Junelle, Alejandro, Stephen Jr., Gabrielle, and Adriane; great grandchild, Mackenzie Wood; brother, Roy Anthony Sealey; sister, Gloria Sealey Shipp, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
