Winston James Miller, Jr., 48, June 14, 2010 at Calvary Hospital in New York City. He was the second child and eldest son of Winston and Jacqueline Miller of St. Louis. At the time of his death he was employed by Polo Ralph Lauren. His career with the company spanned 20 years, rising steadily and culminating with the position of Sr. Director, D&D Trade Showrooms. Prior to his career with Polo Ralph Lauren, he built his design portfolio with various positions within the industry in some of New York’s largest stores: Macy’s, Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdale’s. He worked for the late designer Tice Alexander, and ran his own business, Winston Miller Interiors, one of the first African-American designers in New York to offer fresh yet highly traditional design choices to a diverse clientele.

He is survived by his partner of 28 yrs, Barry Smith; his parents, two siblings, Paul J. Miller, of New York, Carole Miller Bryant of St. Louis, and nephew Anthony Joseph Bryant also survive him as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. A memorial celebration of his life will be held in New York at All Souls Church, 1157 Lexington Avenue on Thursday, June 24, at 6pm.
