Clearly, lots of politicos in Missouri were wearing their butts above their shoulders this week, but none more prominently than state Rep. Ed Emery, a Republican who chairs the state House’s immigration committee. Emery’s analysis of immigration? That immigrants come here to fill jobs that would be staffed by natural-born Americans, if only women in Missouri weren’t having so many abortions and welfare wasn’t undermining the will to work of those folks who actually do manage to get born. Amazing that the Republican Party’s answer even to immigration is to ban abortion and cut spending on the poor. They probably think that will also solve global warming and bad breath.
