The bad news: The Ward Connerly show has indeed rolled into Missouri and language to gut affirmative action in this state has been filed for a 2008 ballot initiative.
The good news: This hands Democrats a major-league “get out the vote” issue, if they play is correctly.
More bad news: When is the last time Missouri Democrats played something correctly?
More good news: A progressive coalition is being formed among Democrats to craft language for a different ballot initiative that might appeal to Democratic voters, though there is no consensus on which issue as of yet.
More (potential) bad news: Attorney General (and Democratic gubernatorial hopeful) Jeremiah “Jay” Nixon was contacted for his response to the attempt to gut affirmative action in the state … and had not responded by press time. Jay bird could go either way on this one.
