State Representative Amber Boykins caught up with the EYE to discuss the proposed idea of forming a committee of community leaders to decide who should be the 4th Senatorial District candidate from North St. Louis. Boykins said the idea is a good one, but it comes a little too late. She said she is in the race to win and thinks her record as a member of the budget committee in the Missouri House makes her uniquely qualified to succeed State Senator Pat Dougherty. Currently there are three announced candidates, Boykins, State Representative Yaphet El-Amin and Jeff Smith. Boykins’ ability to raise money and her family connections do make her a formidable candidate. More later.
