Martin also had Blunt appoint the Reverend Stanley A. Archie to the state Board of Education last week. Archie serves on the board of a charter school with Barnett Helzberg Jr., a former diamond magnate who gave $1,000 to All Children Matter recently. Though he did not return a call to the American, Archie has been quoted as favoring a “competitive education market.”

Get this: School choice advocates think that taking public money away from public schools will force them to become more “competitive.” The next time Matt Blunt and Jeff Smith (and Hoskins and Hubbard) run for office, let’s take some of their campaign money away and see if that makes them more “competitive.”
