Alderman Jeffrey Boyd (22nd Ward) has been nominated for the EYE’s 2005 “What It Is, It Ain’t” award. The political performance that earned Boyd the anger of St. Louis City Comptroller Darlene Green was a motion he made at a Ways and Means Committee budget hearing to increase the 2005-06 budget of the circuit attorney’s office. Boyd supposedly did this despite his learning of Green’s opposition to the increase in funding. Boyd’s willingness to insert himself into the ongoing feud between Green and Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce was the fuel that stoked the fire that put him at odds with the comptroller.
