Wright Jones has one advantage over Hubbard and Villa – she is a woman, and thus representative of another majority. If Democrats vote their gender in the 5th District, race politics will be beside the point (that is, unless state Rep. Connie Johnson gets in the game late).
In fact, a whole lot of women form the Host Committee for Wright Jones Dec. 1 Campaign Breakfast Fundraiser, including Coleman, Yaeger, state Sen. Rita Days, state Sen. Joan Bray, state Rep. Esther Haywood, state Rep. Juanita Head Walton, state Rep. Jeanette Mott Oxford, Alderwoman Bennice Jones King, Mattie Moore and Amber Boykins. (A couple of men on her side, too, including Commiteeman Arthur “Chink” Washington.)
The event will be held 8 – 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 1 at The Pasta House, 313 N. Euclid Avenue @ Maryland Plaza. Donations of $25, $50, $100 and $650 will be accepted. Make checks payable to:
