In the ranks of STL bloggers, Drebes is usually very long on details, fairly generous with predictions but stingy with prescriptions, in part (the EYE surmises) because he is a nice guy who doesn’t like to tick people off, and telling people what to do tends to tick somebody off. But this week he had an interesting suggestion:

“Some Democrats look on the state treasurer position as an opportunity. It’s a chance to include an African American which would theoretically help with their urban base in November. Still finding a credible candidate to quit their job, run around the state begging for money and campaigning non-stop in a long-shot race against arguably the strongest statewide Republican office-holder is a tough task. One name that fits the bill and is making the rounds is former Mizzou quarterback, Corby Jones. He’s an attorney with Armstrong Teasdale in their Kansas City office and has compiled a civic resume since his football days. In addition to diversity, he’d bring some star power that intrigues Dems.”
