Tom DeLay has been unabashed defender of the social conservatives, President Bush and just about every whacky right-wing idea or idealogue in Washington.
While he is quick to tell you why liberals and minorities aren’t true Americans because they aren’t bowing down to the right-wing dogma, he failed to disclose that he and two of his politcal allies have allegedly been shifting money around like organized crime members.
A Texas grand jury has indicted DeLay and his two pals, alleging that corporate contributions of about $190,000 were essentially laundered through transfers from a federal fund into a state fund.
DeLay has temporarily stepped down as Speaker of the House and hopefully this will become permanent.
DeLay does not have to leave his Congressional seat, so the president still have his vote in Congress. But Bush doesn’t have him running the House, and that’s a great thing for America.
