Democratic state legislators who have brushed up against Ed Martin during his unpleasant stay in St. Louis presiding over the city election board are beginning to tell their colleagues to get ready for a more bitter partisan fight than ever against the governor’s office now that Martin will be Blunt’s chief of staff. Martin squares off far to the right on the political spectrum, he is very tough and focused, and (apparently unlike his boss) he is smart and mature. Missouri’s W. may have finally found his Karl Rove. It’s going to be a long, hard session in Jefferson City.
