Kacie Starr Triplett – who hopes to fill Reed’s shoes in the 6th Ward rather than let him hand the job to lobbyist Patrick Cacchione – has started a campaign blog at www.kaciestarrtriplett.com. Triplett clearly has innovation, organizing skill and youth (not to mention height, determination and beauty) on her side, but Cacchione – something of a perennial loser in local politics – may have picked up that most elusive and essential of ingredients: luck. Somehow he was on the scene when USA TODAY reporter Patrick O’Driscoll blew through town to do a national story on the winter storm and resulting power outages. The aldermanic candidate (identified only as a lobbyist) sounds a populist note about holding “someone” responsible, while his wife Pam Cacchione gets the closing quote about losing food twice in two seasons because of massive power losses. Add that clip to the press kit.
