Percy Green writes:
“Friday, August 18, the eight-member federal jury, of which one was African-American, decided that my rights and the rights others were not violated when I was unjustly terminated September 2001 by Mayor Francis Slay. For the time being, Slay will continue to enjoy the political fruits of ‘front’ companies because of a weak (or non-existent) Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE) Certification Program. Legitimate minority and women businesses have not received their fair share of city contracts for the past five years. If an outside, impartial investigation was ever conducted on the Slay administration, it would reveal what a fraud the certification program is to minorities and women businesses, among other such misrepresentations and cover-ups. I do plan to appeal this case.”
